Robert has over 25 years of experience with WSIB/WCB and CPP disability benefit cases.   Robert has helped hundreds of clients  from a wide variety of industries, regarding work injuries to clerical and office workers, auto mechanics, taper and drywall workers, construction workers, painters, electricians, general labour and forklift operators, assembly line workers, butchers, hotel and housekeeping, truck drivers, and others.

Robert represents the client at all stages of the claim, from start to finish, with written submissions, at mediation and at oral hearings and tribunals.  

Robert has Occupational Health and Safety training, including Joint Health and Safety Committee member certification and Train the Trainer Program, to provide safety training to management, supervisors and employees.

​​​​Workers Compensation Advocate paralegal, Robert Govaert, is licensed by the Law Society of Ontario and is a member of the Ontario Paralegal Association. He has a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Sociology and he gained industry experience in manufacturing, retail and food services. Robert was hired by a legal clinic in Toronto, Ontario, and established Workers Compensation Advocate in 1996. Robert has successfully helped hundreds of injured workers to receive all the compensation benefits they are entitled to and he has helped employers reduce their work injury (WSIB/WCB) costs . Robert has knowledge and experience of WSIB best practices, claims management, Early and Safe Return-to-Work, Workwell Audits, Second Injury Enhancement Fund (SIEF), Transfer of Costs, and he has knowledge of the rights and obligations of both the injured worker and the employer.


Robert's primary area of practice is related to claims with the Workplace Safety and Insurance Board (WSIB), previously called Workers' Compensation Board (WCB), and Canada Pension Plan (CPP) disability benefits, including appeals and tribunals before the Workplace Safety and Insurance Appeals Tribunal (WSIAT) and the Social Security Tribunal (SST). Most of his work comes from referrals from clients who are pleased with the outcome of their claims and referrals from family doctors, chiropractors, physiotherapists, lawyers, paralegals, and unions.
